Xcerion
Xcerion is worth considering given their XML based browser powered desktop application which they call an "Internet OS". I don't agree about the OS part, it's not a fitting noun, but I've seen their technology and it's impressive and inspiring. None of the companies listed here in this blog post has anything similar, at least not publicly available, yet.

Chances are Xcerion will be acquired by one of these giants rather soon... so you may be right anyway. wink
