Many things

Price is actually not at the top of my list. I look at service and support over the long haul. I need to know if there is someone competent on the other end of the phone when I call. I also don't need someone that is going to do everything they can to make the call billable.

Dell, for example, has good prices but their TS gets a C. This is coming from the John Q Public side and Enterprise side. This is not just recent. Dell has had TS issues going back many years.

All vendors go through TS issues. Compaq really screwed up years ago when they tried chagrin for everything and then credit your money back if the call was deemed under warranty. I've actually been impressed with Gateway on the Enterprise side. Their TS on the JQP side isn't as good but definitely better than Dell or HP/Compaq.

How about the rest if you? Do you look at TS when recommending, or choosing, a vendor?
