VPN

I have a problem in configuring the my VPN server I am using server 2003 service pack 1 I already completed the step given in configuring my VPN server but I have problem I cannot ping the real IP of my server once I configure it to a VPN server, next how will I connect my XP pro client to the VPN server pls I really need help thank yo
