Zombie Thread??? WELLLL...

In response to the last few thinking that this thread is old, i agree...yet its useful. I had the same problem the other day, all my USBs stopped working for unknown reason, so i googled for an answer and ran into this thread...tried everything from reinstalling drivers, updating anything and everything, the works. Nothing worked.
This is how i SOLVED the problem (VERY SIMPLE):

My understanding was that there was no power for the USB, PC detected it but says its not working for whatever reason. SOOOO, I just turned the PC off, unplugged the power cord off the system for a min. or two, then put it back in and booted the system..VOILA! IT WORKED!

THIS MAY BE A ZOMBIE THREAD, YETTTT, it helps out others who may have similar problems.
